We've Been Had

From fast food, to cheap toys, Americans have been had.  We are overworked, stressed out, fat, addicted, medicated, confused and practically incapable of changing.

I first realized how bad it was when I lived in Italy for a year. There were very few fat people. The food was different, natural.  The norm for a work day included a long mid-day break.  I am not saying Italy is perfect.  But I think it is definitely a step in the right direction.

I see how young people are herded through the school system, obese and uneducated. Not all of course, but too many.  I see the gluttonous hoarding of invaluable items made by people in slave labor types of conditions.  I see our planet getting polluted. Wars never ending.  The rich are getting richer on the backs of the masses.

We Have Been Had.

Why do I care? I care because my mother died following the path of the mainstream (that alone symbolizes groups of people mindlessly following a predetermined path). She worried constantly about things that did not bring her happiness.  Her pride kept her from learning outside the box.

I am not suggesting that life in the past was always better or that there can ever be a perfect society.  But I am saying that big business, rich families, and powerful people are taking advantage of most people, selling us products that are not good for us (music, food, politics, group-mentality).

What to do?  The only thing I know to do, is to wake up to it and make choices for ourselves.

What to do? Love is all you need. The Golden Rule: Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Be patient. Love the stupid people, the sheeple. They need it. We are all poor souls. Let us lift each other up and keep going. Someday we may overcome. The word is Love.
